A speculative Los Angeles transport hub that brings autonomous mobility, neural-interface services, and public programs into a branching building system.
Context
Set in 2048, the proposal imagines a city where brain chips allow skills to be downloaded and autonomous systems organize movement. A second fictional scenario, set in 2248, turns the hub into a base of resistance to machine control. Together, these scenarios frame a question: how might architecture accommodate intelligent systems while preserving human agency?
Approach
Texture mappings and machine-vision drawings inform the building’s surfaces and branching organization. Mobility diagrams establish connections between transport, services, and public rooms; physical models test how these networks become a shared architectural form.
Program and circulation
Three branches give the building distinct civic and technical identities. The west branch holds a theater, automobile exhibition, dining, and retail; the center combines transportation with brain-chip installation and maintenance; the east branch contains research laboratories, an air-taxi terminal, and a stacked parking system.
Future mobility
Visitors arrive by autonomous vehicles, buses, subway, air taxis, and hyperloop. Public autonomous cars recharge in a vertical stack after dropping off passengers, while drone delivery extends routine chip updates from the headquarters to homes and offices across Los Angeles.
